The UFC returns to the Land of the Rising Sun tonight with the UFC on FUEL TV 8: Silva vs. Stann. Also returning to Japan is MMA legend Wanderlei Silva, who will be in the night’s five round non-title main event against Brian Stann.

After a long absence from the Japanese market, the UFC returns the Saitama, Japan with the UFC on FUEL TV 8 this weekend for the second time in just over a year. Also making a return to Japan will be Wanderlei Silva who is headlining the card along with Brian Stann.
Another week of UFC action, and you can’t argue about the UFC on FUEL TV 8 card not being of PPV quality. This installment features important fights in the Middleweight division with Stann, Wandy, Okami and Lombard all in the mix. Plus we get the return of Diego Sanchez, and much more.
For those keeping score at home you can caulk up two more in the win column for the injury bug as he’s claimed two more victims to continue his dominance in the UFC. The latest fighters to get tapped out by the injury bug are Rory MacDonald and Josh Koscheck, leaving BJ Penn and Jake Ellenberger without opponents.
Tomorrows UFC 149 has gone through massive changes from top to bottom and Canadian welterweight Chris Clements was one of the many replacement fighters. After Thiago Alves got injured he stepped in to face Siyar Bahadurzada on the UFC 149 main card. You would be seeing that exciting bout though as Bahadurzada would get injured and be replaced by Matt Riddle to complete to overhaul.
If everything had gone to plan, the UFC would have GSP on the mend, Carlos Condit and Jake Ellenberger meeting for the interim title and a pecking order of two or three fighters behind them. However, some well-placed knees by Martin Kampmann changed all of that. Now the UFC has an interesting issue, too many qualified contenders. Not the worst problem to have, unless you’re a fighter on the list waiting your turn.
Just days after the UFC announced that Jose Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion would be taking on Erik Koch in the UFC 149 main event, tickets for the event will go on sale this week. The event will take place Saturday, July 21st from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and will be the promotions first trip to Calgary.
The Swedish MMA Federation released the medical suspensions from last Saturday’s UFC on Fuel TV 2: Gustafsson vs. Silva event. The suspensions were short and were only issued to Alessio Sakara and Paulo Thiago, as they were the only two fighters who suffered knockout losses.
