How often do you get to fight in a hanger these days? Not often for sure, but at Fight for the Troops, there was all kinds of action inside the base at Fort Campbell, and plenty of military men and women entertaining the soldiers. While most of the soldiers in the cage fell short of their goals of victory, there was plenty to see from a technical stand point on this card.

Tomorrow’s UFC Fight Night 31 marks the return of the UFC Fight for the Troops event. It’s been roughly 22 months since the last Fight for the Troops and let me say that it’s long over due and welcome back.
We’ve got a full week of UFC action ahead of us, and we’re kicking it off with a Wednesday Fight For The Troops UFC Fight Night 31 card. I’ve always liked that the UFC takes a stance for this cause, and the former soldiers fighting here always bring an extra bit of fire to the cage on these nights.
The UFC kicked off Fox Sports 1 with a bang at at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 26, putting together a card that promised lots on paper while also largely delivering inside the cage. The UFC Fight Night is back, and the UFC is kicking off the resurgence of the series in Boston, Massachusetts as part of the Fox Sports 1 launch. It was an odd night in Newark, New Jersey for UFC 159 as the event saw a couple broken body parts and a fighter incorrectly being announced the winner. One of those broken body parts was the left big toe of the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Despite the nasty looking break the champion entered the record books by successfully defended his title for a record tying fifth time.
A handful of fighter needed the towel to make-weight and only welterweight Nick Catone missed weight for tomorrow’s UFC 159. Catone did not attempt to drop the extra weight so he will be fined 20% of his purse but will still face James head on the preliminary portion of the card.
