You all know the story; Diaz missed a couple of key press conferences to promote the bout and was subsequently replaced by former WEC welterweight king Carlos Condit. St. Pierre then would withdraw from the Condit bout due to a knee injury and Diaz went on to fight BJ Penn in a fight that was elevated into the main event slot at UFC 137.
