Last night the trilogy between Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson came to an end with the champion retaining his belt by the narrowest of margins. Inside the cage directly after the fight, Melendez would say he had a hard time getting motivated for the fight and that he was in a no win situation against the former champion, Thomson.

A tournament that seems to have been running forever will finally be coming to an end on May 19th. During tonight’s Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event the promotion release a promo video for the Heavyweight Grand Prix final between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier, happening on May 19th. The location for the Grand Prix finals is yet to be determined, but it’s been rumored to take place in San Jose, California.
