Krause comes up short as late Bellator replacement, brakes hand [Updated]

toby imada 3 300x231 Krause comes up short as late Bellator replacement, brakes hand [Updated]Taking a fight on short notice is hard enough but breaking your hand in the first round makes it even worse. That’s what Lightweight fighter James Krause was up against last night at Bellator 14. Krause replaced Ferrid Kherer who had appendicitis just days before his scheduled fight in the lightweight tourney. His opponent was none other then 2009 submission of the year winner and runner up in Bellator’s first Lightweight tourney, Toby Imada.

Krause came out throwing bombs in the fight but was able to dodge the early onslaught Imada took the fight to the ground. While in top control Imada used submission attempts and strong ground and pound to take the first round over Krause. In the second round Imada quickly took the fight to the canvas once again and trapped Krause against the mat and fence. Imada locked in an armbar and Krause was unable to escape or even tapout, instead he issued an audible tapout at the 2:44 mark of the round.

Showing the heart of a warrior Krause stepped up and you have to respect that. Following his fight Krause sent out a tweet to his fans thanking them for their support and informing them that he had broke his hand.

“Sorry guys I broke my hand the first punch I hit him with, and the cut was to much. I was gassed. Thanks for all the support guys.”

Krause's broken right hand after the fight

[Edited] Upon further review the hand was not broken as Krause first thought. When he made it to the Doctor much to his surprise the hand wasn’t broke.
