Ultimate Fighter 12 to have Welterweight coaches
Season 11 of the Ultimate Fighter is only into it’s 4th week but the planning is already starting for the 12th season. The upcoming season is set to be Lightweights and Light Heavyweights and tryouts arebeing held now. Today news has broke about who the coaches will be… According to MiddleEasy Georges St. Pierre will be one of the coaches and the other coach will be determined at UFC 113. The winner of the Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley showdown will be the other coach opposite GSP. The two coaches will of course fight at the end of the season for the Welterweight title.
This is a tactic Dana White and the UFC has done before, most recently was season 9 (USA vs. UK) where the USA coach was determined by the winner of the Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson fight at UFC 93. The tactic is a good one though as it hypes the upcoming show way before the show well before it even gets going.
Having a Champion as a coach is usually something I dislike because it puts the title on hold, but in this case the timing works. With GSP having fought only 10 days ago and his likely opponent was going to be either Daley or Koscheck it works and I like it. Both Daley or Koscheck will be great for the hype of the TUF season and the season ending title fight too.
