Mark Hunt vs Sean McCorkle Headed to UFC 119
Pride and K-1 veteran Mark Hunt who recently signed a four-fight deal with the UFC, has confirmed he will be facing undefeated heavyweight Sean McCorkle at UFC 119. Both fighter will be making their UFC debut on September 25th.
The signing of Hunt (5-6) comes as a bit of a surprise to some people. Over the last few years, Hunt has lost all five of his fights. Granted, those losses were to top-level competition such as Fedor Emelianenko, Alistair Overeem and Gegard Mousasi, starting in the UFC with that is never good. Not to discredit Hunt in any way, he does hold wins over Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva. Another concern is that Hunt has been fighting at super heavyweight, which exceeds the 265 lb. limit the UFC’s heavyweight division enforces. Hunt is a huge fighter and it remains a question whether he will be able to successfully make the cut to 265.
McCorkle (7-0) is a heavyweight prospect making his debut. He is an Indianapolis resident and will be the crowd favorite when it comes fight time. Similar to Hunt, McCorkle has fought only at super heavyweight and is a very big guy. Both of these heavy-hitters make an exciting addition to the preliminary card.
UFC 119 will be held at the Canseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The main event will be the rematch between former heavyweight champions Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The co-main event will be Ryan Bader vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
