UFC 123 Main card Results

ufc 123 poster display image 226x300 UFC 123 Main card ResultsUFC 123 is now in the books and following a solid undercard, the main card did not disappoint. The main card saw two submission finishes, one TKO finish and two decisions (one split & one unanimous).

In the nights co-main event, BJ Penn showed that he can still be a dominate fighter by quickly defeating Matt Hughes. Penn landed a clean right hand to the jaw that dropped Hughes, Penn jumped on Hughes and the fight was over in 21 seconds.

The main event saw the night second split decision but not as controversial as the Tyson Griffin vs. Nik Lentz fight was. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson took the close split decision by being the more aggressive fighter for the first two rounds. Machida did more damage than Rampage but most of that damage was in the third and final round. Rampage did look surprised when his name was called by Bruce Buffer and Went on to tell Joe Rogan that Machida kicked his ass.

The PPV started out with an exciting “fight of the Night” between Joe Lauzon and George Sotiropoulos that was the tale of two rounds. Lauzon dominated most of the first round with his quickness and grappling but in the second round he looked like a different fighter. Sotiropoulos took over in the second and was about to lock up a Kamura that force Lauzon to tap.
