The UFC wasn’t too kind to Antonio McKee (25-4-2), after just one fight and a split decision lose he was quickly released. The reigning Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) lightweight champion will be coming back to Canada to defend his title on February 25th at MFC 28: Supremacy.
His opponent will be the streaking MMA veteran, Drew Fickett (40-13) who recently signed a multi-fight contract with the promotion. News of the signing (Fickett) was a bit of a surprise due to previous issues between Fickett and MFC owner, Mark Pavelich.
Fickett comes into the fight on a four-bout winning streak that has turned his career around after going 2-8 before 2010. McKee on the other hand just had a very long 14 fight-winning streak snapped, it was his first lose in almost eight years.
These two MMA veterans have never fought each other, but have several common opponents like Edwin Dewees and Carlos Prater, whom they both have defeated.
MFC 28: Supremacy will air live on HDNet Fights from the River Cree Resort and Casino, near Edmonton, Alberta.
The Televised portion of the main card will be:
205 lbs.: Dwayne Lewis vs. Ryan Jimmo (Light Heavyweight Title Fight)
155 lbs.: Drew Fickett vs. Antonio McKee (Lightweight title Fight)
