Ben Saunders will be fighting on Saturday at Bellator 39 and looks to continue his winning ways when he faces Matt Lee.  Bellator showcases some of the best non Zuffa fighters in the world and this season started airing their events on MTV2. Ben is a top MMA prospect and a win in this fight could possibly put him in position for next season’s Welterweight tournament.

Ben trains out of American top team alongside many notable fighters and Dan Hornbuckle who was last season’s runner up in the welterweight division. When asked if Ben would fight Dan he explained that American Top Team is a family but the green light is there if need be to fight teammates. He mentioned that it would be good for ATT and their publicity and he would not mind because it would be for a world championship belt.  This is a great trend and needs to be copied by other camps that seem to refuse to fight their own and leaves a bitter taste in many fan’s mouths.

How Saunders opponent will attack him is unknown but Lee is a tough veteran of both Strikeforce and Bellator, owning a 13-9 record and would be an easy fight. Ben tends to use his Muay Thai skills heavily but he does own a brown belt in BJJ and is well diverse everywhere the fight can go. Ben has improved his takedown defense and ground work greatly and has always been an exciting fighter inside to the cage. Look for him to put on a dominating performance on his road back to Big time MMA.

Bellator 39 airs on MTV2 at 7pm PT/10pm ET and features a main event title fight between the lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez defending his belt against Pat Curran.
