Jamie Varner Back in the Win Column at XFO 39
It has to have been a tough two years for one of the most dominant WEC champions ever to rise to the top, but surely Jamie Varner (17-5) is on cloud nine right now. The XFO fights 39 card was littered with ex UFC, WEC, and Strikeforce veterans trying to fight their way back to the top promotions, in an uprising sport.
Varner being in the co-main event knew how much getting back his winning ways meant and he went out and showed everyone why the UFC / WEC fighters are known to be a cut above the rest.
Varner came out hungry and used his golden gloves, and wrestling dominance to quickly take Tyler Combs back to mat. Varner proceeded to pass around to a side mount position then followed into north south. Combs was set into a north south choke and in the concentration of trying to get free he went to sleep forgetting to tap. Just one minute and thirty seconds into the first round Varner had his opponent sleeping and was ready for the after party.
He seemed to appreciate the fan tweets and Facebook comments and we defiantly look forward to him getting back on track to the UFC.
