jamie varner 298x300 Jamie Varner Looking to Improve at AKA The most crowded division in the Ultimate fighting championship brings a very important key to every WEC fighter wanting to keep his job, just win. Jamie Varner (16-4 MMA) looks to take on a very tough opponent in his home town at the Last event before the merge at WEC 53. Shane Roller (8-3 MMA) has only two loses in the WEC and they were to the current champion and challenger. Jamie has had his up and downs and needs an impressive win to solidify his career in the MMA big show.

Jamie Varner announced this week that he will be training at AKA this week during the day and at Combat fitness with Gil Castillo at night. There has been some outcry for Jamie to leave Arizona Combat Fitness from the fans for quite some time, believing he can’t improve much from that camp. Varner believes they are the right fit for him but wanted to elevate his game and see his options which landed him in one of the best gyms in the country.

American Kickboxing Academy is home to the UFC heavyweight champion, a top Welterweight contender, and one of Strikeforce’s top lightweights. It is an exclusive gym which runs by invite only under the hands of Javier Mendez, Bob Cook, and Dave Camarillo. They have some of the best wrestlers in the world and a distinct art of applying it to MMA fights and this will help a wrestling based boxer in Varner.

The move will show in his upcoming fight and the fans should expect a rejuvenated Varner, who could possibly find a new home and training devotion to make is way up a new lightweight path.
