Anthony Johnson out, Rick Story steps in to face Nate Marquardt
Rick Story is only days removed from defeating Thiago Alves at UFC 130 and already he has a fight lined up. When Anthony Johnson got hurt and was forced from UFC on Versus 4 event on June 26th, Rick Story said he’d be happy to take the fight.
Rick Story will bring his six fight winning streak into Pittsburgh on June 26th, hoping to make it seven. In his way is former Middleweight mainstay Nate Marquardt who will be making his debut at Welterweight on the card. A victory for Story in this fight would put him at the front of the line for a title shot against the winner of GSP and Nick Diaz who will clash in December.
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson who was scheduled to face Marquardt was forced from the card with an undisclosed injury. Johnson was hoping to get a title shot with a victory over Nate. Now he’ll be sidelined and a few steps further from title contention.
Story brings a 13-3 (6-1 in UFC) record into the tilt against Marquardt’s 31-10 (10-4 in UFC) record. Whoever wins the fight will be in immediate title contention.
