That huge sigh of relief you just heard were from all the UFC fans in Northern California who were planning on buying UFC 139 tickets. Worried that a Vitor Belfort vs. Cung Le matchup would be the night’s main event, fans rejoiced when it was announced today that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson have verbally agreed to face each other.

Rua (20-5) bounced back from losing his UFC light heavyweight title to Jon Jones by knocking out another former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 134. The PRIDE veteran has only gone 4-3 in the UFC but has been plagued with injuries since his arrival.

Henderson (28-8) is coming off a big win over Fedor Emelianenko back in July by 1st round TKO to improve his Strikeforce record to 3-1. The 41 year-old now former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion returns to the UFC for third time to make yet another run at a UFC championship belt.

Current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his belt against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at this weekend’s UFC 135. Number one contender and former Champion Rashad Evans is waiting in the wings to face the winner of Saturday’s main event. After that the door is wide open for who’s next in line at the 205 lbs. division, potentially making the winner of the Rua vs. Henderson bout the early front-runner.

UFC 139 takes place on November 19th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, the former home of Strikeforce. Originally the card was rumored to be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos by that fight was moved to the first UFC on FOX card.
