UFC 138 Not Scoring any Points with Fans
Just four days before Saturdays UFC 138 in Birmingham, England fans were hit with the unfortunate news that lightweight fighter Paul Taylor had been forced out of his main-card bout and there would be no replacement. The unfortunate news continued for those in the states, as Spike TV will be airing the UFC 138 main card via the dreaded tape delay.
Taylor (11-6-1, 1nc) was forced to withdraw from his main card bout with Anthony Njokuani (14-5) after being involved in a car accident. The extents of his injuries were unknown but with such short notice the bout was scrapped with no replacement. The light-heavyweight bout between Cyrille Diabate (17-7-1) and Anthony Perosh (11-6) has been moved up to take its spot on the main card.
It’s the second trip to Birmingham, England for the UFC, but it’s the first time in the 16,000-seat LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre. The night’s undercard will stream live on Facebook but it’s the night’s main card where things get downright confusing.
The main card will air live everywhere EXCEPT the United States. The undercard bouts will begin streaming live on Facebook at 5:30pm GMT/ 12:30pm ET/ 9:30am PT. The main card will air live on Rogers Sportsnet in Canadian and the UK fans can watch it on ESPN UK, but the United States they will have to wait until 8 p.m. ET/PT when Spike TV airs the UFC 138 main card via tape delay.
For a card with very few stars on it, throwing it on tape delay sure wasn’t the brightest idea Spike TV has ever had…..
With the latest changes, here is how the UFC 138 card now looks:
