Team Carwin’s striking coach Pat Barry will be joining the TUF 16 head coach Shane Carwin on The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale fight card on December 15th. Carwin will oppose fellow head coach Roy Nelson in the night’s main event, while Barry will take on former Strikeforce heavyweight Shane del Rosario.
When Paul “Semtex” Daley makes his second Bellator appearance at next month’s Bellator 79, he’ll do so against Current North American Allied Fight Series Welterweight Champion Kyle Baker. News of the bout was announced today by MMA Institute, where Kyle “The Alley Cat” Baker trains and is the training center’s co-founder.
Today Strikeforce announced their plans for a major fight card planned for January of 2013. On a side note, the promotion also announced that their November 3rd fight card in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma would be canceled due to injuries to Frank Mir and Luke Rockhold. But hey look on the bright side, at least there will be an event in January.
Is Jeremy Stephens Fighting at UFC on FX 5 or is the fight with Yves Edwards off? This is the question everyone is wondering and depending on who you talk to the reports differ. Jeremy Stephens is scheduled to fight in the final UFC on FX 5 preliminary bout today and according to UFC President Dana White, the fight is still on.
The UFC this week released five of their fighters, two of which most recently fought on last month’s UFC 152 fight card. All of the five fighters are coming of back to back defeats inside the Octagon and all but one of them has a losing record with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
UFC featherweight Chad Mendes will fight one more time in 2012 as the Team Alpha Male fighter will reportedly face Hacran Dias at UFC on FX 6. The sixth FX card will take place in the states on December 14th from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Australia. The event is also expected to feature the final bouts of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes reality series.
Aggression Fighting Championship (AFC) has signed UFC veteran and The Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove to a multi-fight contract. “Da Spyder” won’t be wasting any time making his AFC debut either as he’ll be co-headlining the AFC 14 card on November 3rd in Victoria, BC.
The Polish Experiment, Krzysztof Soszynski is returning to the Octagon. Talks of his retirement apparently were just that and The Ultimate Fighter season 8 participant will fight Ednaldo Oliveira on December 15th at UFC on FX 6.
