Stephen Bass TUF 14 Episode 7 Blog: The Semifinals are Set
First things first, the Official Stephen “Bigfish” Bass shirts are in!! If you’d like to order one the cost is $20 plus $6 shipping and handling ($26) if you’re not in Savannah, GA and if you are then you can pick them up at Champions Training Center. You can contact Amanda Hollowell via FB @ http://www.facebook.com/hollowell.amanda, she’s in charge of shirt sales. Moving on!
This week’s episode picks back up with the little bit of karma that is Roland’s foot infection. You get to see him and his teammates talking it over, with them assuring him that everything’s going to be alright. Under the circumstances I wanted to smile but I really did hate that he didn’t get to fight at one hundred percent. I guess that’s what separates me from this season’s dirty little snakes in the grass.
The show then moves on to training sessions with special guests for each team. Having Tito show the finer points of his elbow systems was great for me. Ground and pound is one of my weaker skill sets (along with Takedown Defense) so it was a definite bonus to have someone with his expertise on the subject coaching me. On top of that he went on to defeat Ryan Bader so that was uplifting for our entire team. Another funny tidbit worth mentioning…Marcus Brimage was given $100 cash from one of the other guys with Tito for telling Tito he had a big head while we were all being introduced, funny stuff for sure.
At this point you get to see the scummier side of some of Team Bisping’s members. Apparently there were conspiracy theories, grudges, and all around bad intentions from some of my appointed team mates and I for one am sickened by it. This was a competition but where the hell is the sport and good will among men with these guys. This garbage led to more problems in the house between me and Diego. I had pulled him to the side in the gym after listening to a few of the guys laughing in the van because TJ skipped evening practice due to a hyper-extended elbow courtesy of Diego. I implored him to take the high road and stay focused, telling him that the other guys were playing on his emotions for their own benefit. Later that evening I told TJ to have a talk with Diego and let him know that he wasn’t giving info to Caraway so they could squash the beef but that backfired on me , either due to either a lack of understanding by Diego or because he just didn’t care. I’d like to think it was for the first of the two.
The fight on this episode between TJ Dillashaw and Roland Delorme was a TJ Dillashaw highlight reel. It surprised me that Roland had the nerve to talk about my fight like he did considering he was also the recipient of a one-sided beating. That being said he did show a lot of heart and is a talented fighter, or else he’d have never made it this far. I wish all these guys the best of luck in their futures and hope that they mature into having some respect and humility because very few people in our profession ever retire undefeated.
We’re left with the semi-final matchups to close out this week’s episode and I ensure you that fireworks will ensue! I’m interested to see the fans picks and am going to put up a framed Team Bisping shirt to the person who gets the most fight picks, how they’ll win and in what round correct! The answers must be listed on the comments section on this week’s blog and must be posted no later than Tuesday, November 8th at midnight. Good luck!
