ONE FC adds Bibiano Fernandes and Shinya Aoki

Singapore based Mixed Martial Arts promotion ONE Fighting Championship has added two big names to their ever-growing roster with the additions of Bibiano Fernandes and Shinya Aoki. The promotion made the announcement official today and the two MMA starts will be making their ONE FC debuts on August 31st at ONE FC: Pride of a Nation.

“We are thrilled to have Bibiano and Aoki added to the growing list of top fighters in ONE FC’s Bantamweight and Lightweight divisions. Both fighters keep moving forward and never stop looking to finish their opponents in spectacular fashion. Bibiano and Aoki will make their debut in the ONE FC cage in Manila on 31 August and I’m positive that fight fans around the world are looking forward to it as much as I am,” said One FC CEO Victor Cui via press release.

Bibiano Fernandes is the current DREAM bantamweight champion and former DREAM featherweight champion as well. Before signing with ONE FC, it had been rumored the Fernandes was signing with the UFC to compete at next month’s UFC 149. He even has a rumored opponent in Roland Delorme but he’ll be taking his services to Manila instead and will be looking to extend his winning streak to four in a row on August 31st.

Bibiano Fernandes and Shinya AokiShinya Aoki is coming off a loss to Eddie Alvarez at Bellator 66 but the current DREAM lightweight champion had his previous seven bouts, including wins over Tatsuya Kawajiri, Marcus Aurelio and Rich Clementi. One of Asia’s most popular fighters, Aoki is known for his submission, having 19 of his career 30 wins coming by way of submission. He’ll be looking to add another submission victory to his collect when he makes his debuts at ONE FC: Pride of a Nation.

Neither Bibiano Fernandes nor Shinya Aoki current have an opponent slated for the event but with over two months before the event an announcement should be forthcoming.
