MMA Rankings for September 2012

| September 5, 2012 | 3:27 pm | Reply

MMA RankingsThe latest MMA rankings are suffering from the cancellation of UFC 151 and show very little change from last month. In fact there is only one change among the top five MMA rankings this month and that goes to UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar, who lost his rematch to the champion Ben Henderson at UFC 150.

Edgar, who is actually moving down to featherweight for his next fight, fell from the #3 spot to the #5 position and will eventually be removed completely from the lightweight ranks. The former lightweight champion is one of two ranked fighters planning a move to a different weight class as middleweight challenger Chael Sonnen is moving back up to light heavyweight.

The majority of this month’s action came from fighters inching closer to the top 5 and find themselves now knocking on the door.

Looking ahead at September and there doesn’t look to be much action taking place amongst the top ranked fighters. The Marquee matchup this month is the first-ever UFC flyweight championship bout between Joseph Benavidez (#1) and Demetrious Johnson (#2) at UFC 152. Also fighting at UFC 152 on September 22nd will be light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (#1) taking on Vitor Belfort and Middleweight Michael Bisping (#3) takes on Brian Stann. Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez (#2) will also in action as he defends his title against Pat Healy on September 29th.

As always the goal here is to give you the best MMA Rankings that we can provide you with and of course a spot below for you to disagree and complain. So without further ado here is the latest MMAValor.com MMA Rankings:

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
