Abel Trujillo Makes Impressive Debut at UFC on FOX 5
He was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut against Tim Means at UFC on FOX 5 but Abel Trujillo instead faced Marcus LeVesseur and looked impressive. After Means was forced off the card a day before the fight, LeVesseur stepped in to save the fight. He might be second guessing that decision right about now.
Marcus LeVesseur (22-7) looked to use his wrestling to impose his will on Abel Trujillo (10-4), but to his dismay the Blackzilians fighter wasn’t having any of it. LeVesseur was relentless at his pursuit of the takedown and that would ultimately be his downfall in the fight. With his back against the cage and LeVesseur fishing for the leg, Trujillo used elbows and punches from all angles while also keeping himself upright. That clinch work from Trujillo softened up LeVesseur in round one who came out noticeably slower and apprehensive to start round two. Trujillo would gain full control of the fight early in the round and poured it on LeVesseur, who was last seen turtling up getting crushed by knees to the midsection.
Abel Trujillo defeated Marcus LeVesseur by 2nd rd. TKO (3:56)
LeVesseur drops his UFC record to 1-2, while Trujillo wins his fifth consecutive fight with his successful Octagon debut. Abel Trujillo looked impressive in his debut at UFC on FOX 5 and adds another prospect to the already stacked UFC lightweight division.
