UFC 156 Frankie Edgar vs Jose AldoLess than a day before the Super Bowl, the UFC put on a featherweight super fight in the UFC 156 main event. Riding a long winning streak, Jose Aldo defended his title against the former lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar in his 145 pound debut. Their fight proved to be as billed but the night was filled with upsets and a “Bigfoot” sized come from behind knockout.

Edgar once again showed the heart of a champion but came up just short for the third straight time. Aldo Had his hands full with Edgar, who really took the champ off his game plan of those heavy leg kicks that have given so many other fighters trouble. The champ turned to his hands instead to win the fight and had Edgar yet another heartbreaking decision loss.

The UFC 156 fight that got the fans inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center going the most was the heavyweight fight being Alistair Overeem and Antonio Silva. Overeem was fighting for a potential title shot and looked good early in the stand up but also took Silva down as well. Towards the end of the second round the hands of Overeem began to drop, not because of fatigue, but because he was showing little respect for the power of his opponent. That would be his downfall in the third as Silva pounced, stunning the former Strikeforce champion and finishing him off with a flurry against the cage.

Other UFC 156 upsets saw Antonio Rogerio Nogueira defeat Rashad Evans and Demian Maia defeating Jon Fitch. The complete UFC 156 results are as follows……..

  1. Seems your “bold” predictions didn’t pan out too well LOL.

Wouldn’t feel too bad though, I picked most of the favorites to win too.

Overeem, Fitch, Rashad; I am disappoint.
