ONE FC: Kings & Champions will be Headlined by Lightweight Title Fight
The April 5th ONE FC event to be held in Singapore will be headlined by a lightweight world championship bout between current champion Kotetsu Boku taking on the Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki. Their bout was announced today by the quick rising Asian Mixed Martial Arts Promotion.
Boku (20-7-2) will be making his first defense of his title after defeating Zorobabel Moreira last October in win the inaugural ONE FC Lightweight World Championship title belt. Aoki (32-6, 1NC) defeated Arnaud Lepont on that same fight card to earn his title shot against the former kickboxer. Both fighters made their promotional debut on the ONE FC: Rise of Kings fight card, which was also help in the Singapore indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
Despite being the champion, Boku will likely enter his title fight with Aoki as the underdog. Boku needed a come from behind win against Moreira to become champion and Aoki will be the toughest test of his career. The submission specialist holds wins over many of the top lightweights in the world and holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. He’ll be looking to add ONE Fighting Championship lightweight champion to his resume.
ONE FC: Kings & Champions takes place on Friday April 5th and will be broadcast live on STAR SPORTS across Asia.
