XFC Spotlight: XFC 23 Co-Main event Fighter Zach Underwood

| April 11, 2013 | 1:20 pm | Reply

Zach UnderwoodZach Underwood will make his way to Kentucky from Tennessee on April 19 for his next MMA fight. Underwood carries a (10-4) record into the bout at XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest, where he will take on a talented striker in Deivison Ribeiro (22-9) in the co-main event.

Underwood may be the underdog on paper heading in to the matchup against the more experience Ribeiro, but if there’s one thing fans should know about him, it’s that he’s never out of a fight. He is a fighter who likes to push the pace of his bouts, bringing the pressure to his opponents from the opening bell. He has never been submitted and has only one loss by knockout thanks to a super strong chin.

Riding a two fight win streak, including a win over XFC veteran Chris Coggins, Underwood will need to be at his best to defeat Ribeiro. The Brazilian is well-rounded, with excellent Muay Thai striking and effective grappling. It will be up to Underwood to keep the fight standing and to be prepared for a fight that could easily go the distance.

Underwood and Ribeiro will face off in the co-main event at XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest. The featherweight match-up will mark the first time either fighter has competed in the XFC and a win by Underwood could possibly lead to a multi-fight contract. The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and ThroatPunch Ind. Apparel and will air live on AXStv from the Kentucky National Convention Center on April 19.
