Making the Cut Heavyweight to Middle Weight [Final results]

So it has been 3 weeks and quite the journey! I originally set a hard goal of moving from Heavyweight (220) to Middleweight (185) in 3 weeks. I guess honestly I lost motivation because I actually do not have a fight coming up and only lost about 20 pounds, but that’s good for 3 weeks. Two years ago I cut from 198 to 176 for a grappling tournament and I feel with my current stature I would be able to replicate that cut if I had a date to perform a tough task such as a fight or grappling tournament. Today also started the second phase of the diet a slower portion where we introduce good carbohydrates and fruits back into the diet. The book promises the same amount to more of a cut so I am going to put my goal @ a realistic 188 by May 11th that’s 22 more pounds in a month and a 42 pound cut in less than 2 months.

Making the Cut Heavyweight to Middle Weight [Day 4]

I have decided to do this every two days to get a better more graphic picture of my losses and struggle. Today was defiantly better than day 3. During day three I felt hungry until lunch so I hoarded some top sirloin steak, man was it good! But that’s ok it’s acceptable on this diet during phase one. Today a lot of home conversations are being talked about saying if we could cheat what meal would we eat. It’s almost like torture but I know it’s worth it. Oh yeah I payed on the treadmill yesterday for my little steak extravaganza. Today I realized I might be eating too many fatty almonds/cashews so I will cut it down. I also learned that maybe I am going to shoot for fat burn on the treadmill instead of doing over 9 miles in under an hour trying to build cardio. Small tweaks hopefully I will start cutting more.

Making the Cut Heavyweight to Middle Weight [48 hours into the cut]

Today had its ups and downs, but overall it’s not as hard as I thought it would be. The only time I get hungry is when I am super occupied (school or work and forget to eat). This diet defiantly lets you know when you are hungry, but the good thing is there is no limit to how much you eat, as long as you stop when full. I have taken some pictures of meals I ate and will continue through this whole blog. I will also update everything I am eating and my workouts. I overate tonight knowing I would get in a good workout, which worked out perfectly. I am all done for the day and about to weigh in one more time.

Making the Cut Heavyweight to Middle Weight

So I have decided to form a well know and popular / accessible diet to the MMA world, for those who want to make a substantial weight cut a few months before a fight. Don’t worry if you are not a fighter I will go over many things that can help us all get to where you want to be. I will start of with a little about myself. At my prime / best weight I am around 188 pounds, but after I got out of the military my weight has fluctuated a lot and is now on an endless rise. I feel stronger than ever and have been more concerned about throwing up a lot of weight in the gym, and less about my actual overall health. I have been enjoying the fine foods of the world and since I am married, not worried about being in great beach form for everyone around me. I have to admit I am quite the mess right now (even though I honestly put on 5 or so pounds just to make this seem more legit) and am here to show a good example on how I used the “South Beach Diet” and formed it into minimal water and muscle loss but getting rid of that troublesome fat around the mid section and in my legs.
