Things have been slow the last few months with regards to change amongst the MMA rankings. Injuries to champions and top fighters along with dominate champions have limited the movement but things are beginning to pick up. In November the UFC saw one of its champions return to action after a long layoff due to injury and the final month of the year will see many highly ranked fighters step into the cage.
All this nonsense “superfight” talk should stop. Georges St. Pierre is the reigning, most dominant welterweight champion ever and is totally in his right to say no to the fight with Anderson Silva. Whether you are in favor or not of the GSP vs. Silva fight it doesn’t appear to be in the cards, so here is my take on what Dana White and company should do with the welterweight division.
On November 17th, after a 19 month layoff due to a knee injury, Georges St-Pierre returned to his division to unify the titles. Taking on a game challenger in Carlos Condit at UFC 154, GSP showed that not only was he back in fighting form, he was perhaps even better than he left. We saw not only his pure athletic abilities and prowess in different aspects of MMA itself, but the grit of a champion as he went five hard rounds, and bounced back from a near fall in the third round.
The UFC welterweight champion returned to the Octagon tonight at UFC 154 and walk out was again the “undisputed champion”. In front of a packed house in Montreal, Georges St-Pierre took on the interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit in a 25 minute war that left both fighters battered, bruised and bloody.
The time has arrived, UFC 154 is upon use and hopefully the welterweight division can get back to some form of normalcy. Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre returns to action after a long absence to take on the interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit to unify the belts.
Another UFC event, another UFC 8 Bit poster for you guys. Just like Georges St-Pierre’s long lay off, 8 bit posters is back from its short lay off to present UFC 154 in 8-bit style. UFC 154 takes place in Montreal, Canada where Georges St. Pierre comes back from his long injury lay off to defend his title against interim champ Carlos Condit.

Also looking to unify the belt will be the interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit who defeated Nick Diaz way back in February by unanimous decision. St-Pierre has been out since April of last year after injuring his knee late last year that required surgery.
It’s finally time to unify the Welterweight titles again, as GSP returns from his long hiatus to defend his belt at UFC 154. His opponent is a familiar face in the gym as interim champion Carlos Condit will welcome his partner back to the cage. While the fighters may be friends outside the cage, make no mistake as these two are coming for blood in the main event.
