Today has been one of those days UFC President Dana White talks about during his interviews. Along with the UFC 152 conference call, White had his usual busy day of dealing with issues and problems including three injuries to fighters on upcoming main cards.
Another UFC event, another fighter injured. It seems like a recurring theme these days as you can never count on a card until they actually walk out to the octagon, and even then they could get injured on the way there. The price you pay for a physical sport where the training camps are just as hard, or if not harder, then the actual fight. Think about it, fighters, eat, sleep, and train consistently. They are breaking down their bodies more than they are resting them. It will and always is an inevitable vicious cycle.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has recently been on a crusade to have himself removed from the UFC roster. Following his loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144: Japan, Rampage has been publicly voicing his displeasure with the UFC as well as the business practices conducted by ZUFFA, and has verbally professed his desire to leave the flagship MMA organization.
Anderson Silva is 14-0 inside the UFC Octagon, an achievement that will likely never again be met. So now that he’s cleaned out the division, what’s next?
According to sources, Thiago Silva has pulled out of his scheduled fight against Rampage Jackson at UFC 130, and Rashad Evans has come to the rescue and stepped in to replace Silva. Last weekend Evans was forced to pull out of his bout with the light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua due to a knee injury and his teammate Jon “Bones” Jones replaced him.
