What Surprises Will Tomorrow hold for the UFC

ufc logo4 What Surprises Will Tomorrow hold for the UFCToday has been one of those days UFC President Dana White talks about during his interviews. Along with the UFC 152 conference call, White had his usual busy day of dealing with issues and problems including three injuries to fighters on upcoming main cards.

Two of those injuries have currently crippled the UFC 153 fight card in Rio. First Rampage Jackson withdrew from his co-main event bout with Glover Teixeira and not more than an hour later headliner and UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was also off the card, leaving Frankie Edgar who was making his featherweight debut, without an opponent.

Now in need of a few big names to feel the void at the top of the UFC 153 fight card, the UFC went right into scramble mode. Frankie Edgar and Glover Teixeira need an opponent and the Brazilian fight card could use some star power.

Immediately one name came to everyone’s mind to step in an anchor the card and his name was Anderson Silva. The UFC middleweight champion had offered his services to try to save the UFC 151 fight card so why not the card in his home country. Silva could step in and either fight at light heavyweight or maybe even defend his middleweight title.

Maybe hinting at possible news forthcoming, Wanderlei Silva sent out a vague tweet saying “UFC Rio???” that could be taken many different ways.

Another hint from a fellow Brazilian came 90 minutes early from former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida who tweeted, “We are preparing a big surprise for you guys”. Along with the tweet was a picture of Machida with Mauricio Rua and Wanderlei Silva.

None of this could even be UFC 153 related but one thing’s for sure, tomorrow is shaping up to be another interesting day for the UFC.
