The UFC Needs the WEC

After watching the WEC and UFC events last week, one thing is very clear, the UFC needs the WEC. Any way you look at it, World Extreme Cagefighting put on a more exciting and energetic show.

Urijah Faber backed up the hype and entered the bantamweight division with an impressive submission victory over Takeya Mizugaki. Eric Koch provided an impressive TKO victory and Joseph Benavidez followed up his five round war with title holder Dominick Cruz only 3 short months ago, with a second round submission victory over Wagnney Fabiano. Nate Marquardt getting the “Florian” treatment from Dana White

Last weekend at UFC 122, Nate Marquardt (30-10-2) lost to Yushin Okami (26-5) via unanimous decision to determine the #1 contender in the middleweight division. Follow the fight at the post fight press conference, Dana White referred to Marquardt as a choker, claiming “He choked tonight”. UFC 122 results

Before UFC 122 even started, it was already been brushed off in favor of UFC 123 next weekend. More tragedy struck the morning of the fight as co-main event fighter, Alessio Sakara was forced out of the fight due to some flu-like symptoms. With Rivera/Sakara now cut from the card, Duane Ludwig vs. Nick Osipczak was promoted to the main card (minutes before they were scheduled to walk out). Time for the Kimbo Killer to Leave the Building

Seth Petruzelli (14-6) has used up all his “Kimbo Killer” and destruction of the EliteXC fame and needs to be handed his UFC walking papers. Petruzelli made his fourth trip to the UFC octagon today against Karlos Vemola (8-1) at UFC 122 in Germany. UFC 122 Main Card Breakdown

This Saturday, November 13th, Spike TV is going to be broadcasting UFC 122 via tape delay from the König Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. UFC 122 will be the second event held in Germany; the last being UFC 99. The last time Dana White came to Germany, they event drew a lot of negative attention and minors were banned from attending.
