So UFC on FOX 5 has long come and gone but the rumored Pre-Preliminary bout between UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon and up and comer grappler Nick “The Tooth” has surfaced. As the real UFC on FOX 5 fight were taking place take of Joe Lauzon earning six grand and being the early candidate for submission of the night began to come out.
This past week in MMA was a memorable one. The inspirational story of Nick Newell continues to grow as he won the XFC lightweight title, while the UFC put on a great free card on FOX. Often these hyped up MMA events fall flat come fight night but tonight’s UFC on FOX 5 lived up and maybe even exceeded the hype. You knew the night was going to be good when Scott Jorgensen and John Albert opened the show with an exciting 4:59 of action that would end up being “Fight of the Night”.
He was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut against Tim Means at UFC on FOX 5 but Abel Trujillo instead faced Marcus LeVesseur and looked impressive. After Means was forced off the card a day before the fight, LeVesseur stepped in to save the fight. He might be second guessing that decision right about now.
Today’s UFC on FOX 5 card has been hyped as the greatest MMA fight card on Network television and the only bout not on TV turned out to be a barn burner. The night opened with one bout streaming Live on Facebook between bantamweights Scott Jorgensen and John Albert. Though their bout lasted one second under a round, it was an exciting start to the UFC on FOX 5.
Three fighters missed weight on their first try at today’s pre-fight weigh-ins for tomorrows UFC on FOX 5. The three will have two hours to shed off those final tough pounds, but for one of them it could mean whether or not a title is one the line.
Two days before the UFC on FOX 5 takes place in the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington the UFC held a press conference. Oddly enough the news that came out of this press conference had little to nothing to do with the fights on Saturday night.
