Exclusive Q & A with Out-Dun MMA

Exclusive Q & A With Out-Dun MMA

We are 100% Australian owned and grown.

Out-Dun MMA is an apparel company located in Melbourne, Australia where MMA is still in it’s infant stages of growth. I meet the owner Anthony on Facebook andwe talked several times about MMA in Australia and in the states. The dude is a really laid back guy that knows the sport and wants to bring great MMA apparel to his Country. Out-Dun fight gear range from shirts and shorts to head gear and gloves and all can be found here. Out-Dun’s gear is very reasonably priced compared to other’s and even though it’s shipping from Australia the shipping is also reasonable. I sat down with Anthony (via the Internet) to ask him some questions so we can better understand what Out-Dun MMA really is.

» How did you come up with that name Out-Dun MMA?
I was looking for a name that would stand out, I wanted something to appeal to ALL people but still have that fighters edge or attitude. I threw a few names down in a book then forgot about it for a while. The name popped up while I was watching UFC on PPV, I think Joe Rogan said something like “the guy was OUT classed tonight so well DONE to you” while interviewing the winner of a fight then it just hit like BANG (Out-Dun).
» Does it have a meaning to it?
YES, you’ll see in every fight there is someone being OUT-DUN, the loser is always Out-Dun by the winner. You can use that for everything not just fighting. It could be racing, playing games, any form of sports.
» When did you start Out-Dun MMA and why?
Well I started training in BJJ and MMA in mid 2004 so I created Out-Dun MMA in 2006. I wanted to bring MMA and BJJ to Australia, we didn’t really have good suppliers of MMA Gear. In 2004-2006 all our Gi’s, rash vests, shorts, etc had to be imported from either Brazil or USA. I wanted to create and design the best possible products to train with for the athletes of both BJJ and MMA. I look at our products firstly from a fighters point of view then I design it with a marketing view. If you cant train with it then I wont do it, that’s why I wanted to start my own product line.

» Why did you choose MMA?

Because I personally train in BJJ and MMA so I know of the sport and I know what its all about. MMA was not that popular in Australia a few years ago. I wanted to start building a company that can bring down the walls so that the people of Australia can see and appreciate the sport and the athletes.

» What makes your apparel line different then the others?
Our drive comes from the fighters point of view or the people who love to train. I don’t look at whats in or what out I look at what I want as a fighter so I go to them and that’s something that most if not all companies don’t do, they just wanna sell their products to you and that’s it. I don’t, I want you to be happy from the time you buy it to the day it can not be used anymore.

» Do you sponsor any fighter?
I have a few local fighters who I am sponsoring and I got a couple well known guys who will turn some heads soon so watch out for them (sorry can’t name any names)

» Where do you see your company at in the future?
I want to see Out-Dun MMA grow in every way possible. I predict really huge things for us and as long as I have the support from the fighters and all the public who love the sport, I think the sky is the limit.

Thanks to everyone who has supported Out-Dun MMA over the years and I also wanna thank Josh at MMA VALOR for his continued support, Cheers!!
