Much of the hype and bad blood behind the Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons rematch has greatly overshadowed that fact that Noons has moved up in weight for this fight. Noons has fought mainly at the 155 pound lightweight division but has also fought at 160 pounds, which is where the two previously fought at three years ago. When Noons steps into the cage tonight he’ll be making his MMA debut at the 170 pound welterweight division.

Noons has expressed in the past that cutting down to 155 pounds was tough, telling the media it was “a full body transformation, like cutting off an arm” to make 155 pounds. As much as it sounds like it, Noons isn’t through with the lightweight division. “I want to fight wherever the fans want to see me fight”, Noons says.

Win or lose tonight, Noons just loves to fight and wants to put on a good fight for the fans, “high risk equals high reward, that’s what makes an exciting fight”, expressed Noons regarding the punishment he takes in his fights by standing in the pocket.

Noons doesn’t know where the future will take him and what division he will land next. He want to take tonight’s fight first and then go from there but as Noons told me “when I win, I’m going to have to fight at 170 pounds!”
