Lorenz Larkin Punishes Scott Lighty at Strikeforce Challengers

This past Saturday night, Strikeforce Challengers 15 played host to a night full of highlight reel finishes, among them was Lorenz Larkin’s impressive dominance of Scott Lighty. Larkin (10-0) continued his unbeaten streak with a second round TKO win over Lighty.

The bout was Larkin’s debut in the promotion and with the performance he put on, he sent shockwaves through the light heavyweight division. From the opening bell, Larkin punished Lighty with unorthodox punches and kicks. Larkin continually hit Lighty with everything in his arsenal. From roundhouse kicks to standing elbows, Lighty got hit with it all. Midway through the second round, Lighty got caught with a hard left hook that hurt him badly, and Larkin knew it. “The Monsoon” then briefly stalked Lighty before landing a crushing uppercut that dropped him and forced the referee to halt the bout at 3:15

Lighty (6-2) didn’t look his best inside the cage against Larkin. A veteran on over 40 K-1 fights, Lighty knows a thing or two about the stand-up game. However, the style Larkin brought forth seemed to surprise Lighty and keep him from utilizing any counter punches.

The loss is Lighty’s second inside the Strikforce cage and it’s difficult to say what’s next for him. Larkin on the other hand looked phenomenal on his feet and will aim at a step up in competition in his next appearance.
