Complete Fight by Fight BAMMA 9 Recap
With the atmosphere in the NIA was electric as fight fans wait for the main event between Tom ‘Kong’ Watson and Jack Marshman, there is just the small matter of an equally impressive undercard to get through.
The fighters for tonights’s Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey card stepped onto the scales last night in Columbus, Ohio. All 18 fighters made weight and will begin stepping into the cage tonight at 8pm ET / PT for the preliminary card that will be airing on Showtime Extreme. The night main card will start at 10pm ET / PT time and is headlined by the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title bout between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey.
From the HRH Lounge inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino today was the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine weigh-ins. The small lounge was jam packed with fans that were all standing huddled up around the media area directly in front on the stage. All but one fighter made weight on their first attempt with Nah-Shon Burrell needing an extra hour to drop the extra pound.
The UFC 139 weigh-ins could easily go down as one of the most interesting pre-fight weigh ins ever between the scale troubles, outrageous outfits and personalities. With fighters walking out dressed in a suit (Danny Castillo) and as Steven Seagal (Tom Lawlor) the fans were treated to more than fighters stripping down to their skivvies and stepping on a scale.
M-1 completed their first venture to Arizona in what seemed to be a USA vs. Russia all out battle for the spotlight. The main card started with three fights that lasted less than three minutes combined and had the crowd at Grand Canyon University pumped for the dual main events.
Shark Fights 18 is in the books but fans not in attendance will not be able to see the fights until September 2nd on Fuel TV. Part of the networks Friday Night Fights series, the five bout main card from Shark Fight 18 can be seen at 6pm PT / 9pm ET. For those that cannot wait to see the action you can check out pictures from the event on MMA Valor.
And here we go! The fourth season of the Bellator Fighting Championships is finally here after a few month layoff and they starting things off with tonight’s Bellator 35.
