The UFC will be in Newark, New Jersey this weekend with a UFC 159 fight card that features the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones versus the “People’s Champion” Chael Sonnen for the UFC light heavyweight title. The Ultimate Fighter 17 coaches played nice during the show but returned to hyping the fight (Sonnen) and mean mugging (Jones) as the two will finally step into the cage on Saturday.
A fight that we’ve literally been hearing about for eight months, Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will finally climb into the cage and make it official at this Saturday’s UFC 159. Whether you like Sonnen or hate him, you have to respect he’s sold a fight that very few think he can win, yet is intriguing enough to want to check out.
The UFC closed out the 2012 year with tonight’s UFC 155 and while the card had its highs and lows, the final two bouts ended things in style. Those of you that are already having some TUF Live withdraw can get their Friday night fix with tonight’s UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall. Live from South Florida by way of the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown, the UFC lands in the BankAtlantic Center with 12 bouts across Facebook, FUEL TV and concluding on FX.
If the stars align and or people can add, Tomorrows UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall will finally set up the promotions first ever flyweight championship fight. The two fighters that ushered the flyweights into the UFC will now be the first 125 pound fighters to headline a UFC card as Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall look to earn a title shot against Joseph Benavidez.
One of the best fights with the oddest conclusion will get its do-over as the main event of UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall, as “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall takes on Demetrios “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. With a bungle on the score cards, this fight was denied its 4th and final “Sudden Victory” round, so we’ll be getting a full replay of two elite Flyweights in action.
