If the stars align and or people can add, Tomorrows UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall will finally set up the promotions first ever flyweight championship fight. The two fighters that ushered the flyweights into the UFC will now be the first 125 pound fighters to headline a UFC card as Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall look to earn a title shot against Joseph Benavidez.
Their first meeting has been well chronicled and beaten down to no end but all that should change by night’s end. The UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall card returns to South Florida for the first time since UFC Fight Night 10 in 2007. The event was brought to the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida via the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown and will broadcast across FX, FUEL TV and Facebook.
While headlined by the littlest of guys, the UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall card as a whole only has one bout above the welterweight division. This should bring several fights of the night candidates, loads of action and if a fight goes the distance, some tough decisions. Let’s just hope they can add right!
At last week’s TUF Live Finale one bad referee and two upsets turned a great night of predictions into another average night. We went 6-4 on the night, which isn’t bad considering the unknown TUF fighter, to bring our overall record to 84-65 (56%).
UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall features 12 bouts overall and will begin on Facebook at 2pm PT / 5pm ET. The televised portion of the prelims starts on Fuel at 3pm PT / 6pm ET, with the main card starting at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on FX.
