It was an odd night in Newark, New Jersey for UFC 159 as the event saw a couple broken body parts and a fighter incorrectly being announced the winner. One of those broken body parts was the left big toe of the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Despite the nasty looking break the champion entered the record books by successfully defended his title for a record tying fifth time.

A handful of fighter needed the towel to make-weight and only welterweight Nick Catone missed weight for tomorrow’s UFC 159. Catone did not attempt to drop the extra weight so he will be fined 20% of his purse but will still face James head on the preliminary portion of the card.
The UFC will be in Newark, New Jersey this weekend with a UFC 159 fight card that features the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones versus the “People’s Champion” Chael Sonnen for the UFC light heavyweight title. A fight that we’ve literally been hearing about for eight months, Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will finally climb into the cage and make it official at this Saturday’s UFC 159. Whether you like Sonnen or hate him, you have to respect he’s sold a fight that very few think he can win, yet is intriguing enough to want to check out.
Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
Not only is The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale taking place this weekend but the second international version of the reality shot, TUF: Smashes will also be holding their finale in Australia. With the time difference the Australian card airs on Friday, while the domestic TUF 16 finale will air live on Saturday from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In some tricky scheduling, we have two TUF Finales in two days, with TUF: The Smashes and TUF 16: Carwin vs. Nelson. Being as us American folks missed out of The Smashes, I’ll be combining these two cards into one epic fight report for your reading pleasure, so let’s dig into the massive report.
