Dan Henderson could be set to sign with Strikeforce
The Dan Henderson saga appears to finally be at the end, as it appears he’ll sign with Strikeforce this weekend. Henderson and the UFC had been in intense negotiations for months after his KO of Michael Bisping in July. Henderson recently rejected the UFC’s latest offer and Dana White was quoted “I guarantee you 1,000 percent that Dan Henderson is signed by Strikeforce”. Henderson’s camp has confirmed nothing nor has Scott Coker of Strikeforce but Coker did say they would meet after Saturday’s event.
Many think that Henderson is making a bad choice because the top fighters are in the UFC and Stikeforce doesn’t have much to offer him. I don’t think this is true since he can fight at both the 205lbs and 185lbs divisions. The 205lbs division of Strikeforce is pretty thin and it doesn’t help two of their fighters are also Team Quest members (Sokoudjou & Lawal). Besides fights with Renato Sobral & current champ Gegard Mousasi there isn’t anything left at light Heavyweight. The 185lbs division is much more intriguing as fights with Robbie Lawlor, Nick Diaz, Mayhem miller, Frank Shamrock, Jake Shield or Jacare would be fights I would love to see.
Nothing is official yet but I do not see anything bad with Henderson going to Strikeforce. It doesn’t hurt UFC or Henderson and it will bolster the roster for Strikeforce.
