UFC continues to revamp the Middleweight division
The UFC looking to add some new talent to their middleweight division the UFC today signed undefeated South Korean Dong Yi Yang (9-0). Yang most recently fought in May against Bill Saures at Trench Warz 12, where he won by TKO in just 67 seconds. Yang’s nickname is “The Hammer” which he has dropped the hammer eight times on his opponents. In fact Yang has yet to go to a decsion scoring one submission and eight TKO’s in his nine victories.
Yang’s UFC debut has yet to be determined but with the card through August all but filled, expect to see him in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The division revamp actually started months ago with the Ultimate Fighter season 11 which featured middleweights. Just a couple weeks ago at the finale the UFC added 10 middleweights to the roster from the reality show to their current roster. That number didn’t last long because yesterday the UFC released four of those 10 fighters after losing in the finale. Leaving these 6 fighters from the season 11 cast remaining on the roster, Chris Camozzi, Brad Tavares, Rich Attonito, Kyle Noke, Kris McCray and Season winner Court McGee.
In total the UFC has now added 7 fighters to a middleweight division that has been dominated by current champ Anderson Silva for the last 4 years. A incredible run in which he has won all 11 of his UFC fights include 7 title defenses.
