Canada’s Maximum Fighting Championship, looking to build off the success of MFC 29 announced today a very special event. On Friday June 10^th from the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta and airing live on HDNet will be MFC 30: Up Close & Personal.

What gives MFC 30 its name is the venue that should offer virtually every seat in the house will have the feel of being right on top of the action with the enhanced confines of the Mayfield Conference Centre.  

“This is going to be an unreal event for the fans,” stated MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich. “There’s no doubt in my mind that it will sell out immediately, potentially in record time for the MFC, which makes me even more excited to ensure that it is an amazing night for everyone.”

The main event for MFC 30 will be two fighters coming off successful debuts in the organization for the vacant MFC lightweight title. Drew “Night Rider” Fickett (41-13) coming off his 36 seconds submission victory over Matt Veach at MFC 28 will take on Hermes “The Unreal” Franca (21-11) who knocked out Robert Washington at MFC 29.

Fickett is riding a nice five fight winning streak, turning his career around after going just 2-8 over his ten previous fights. I submission wizard holding 30 career wins by way of the tapout, Fickett will look to submit the Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard Franca. Having already fought three times in 2011, Franca has also turned his career around of late. After a seven fight stretch where he went 1-6, he’s recovered and is 3-0 with a no contest over his last four bouts.

Also on the MFC 30 card will be a grudge match between “The Irish Hand Grenade” Marcus Davis (18-8) and Richie “Hell Boy” Whitson (11-1). Both fighters openly dislike each other and the two strikers will settle their differences inside the MFC cage.
