Michael Johnson stepped into the Octagon on Sunday and showed a much improved fighter from his time on The Ultimate Fighter, taking out Edward Faaloloto in their Facebook Preliminary fight.
Entering his first fight in the UFC since the loss on the Ultimate Finale against Johnathon Brookins, Johnson and Faaloloto started off fast and furious as both fighters landed a few shots on one another before Faaloloto forced a clinch. Dropping down for a takedown, Johnson ate several hammerfists and elbows, opening a nice cut on the eye of the Johnson before getting taken down.
After a brief time on the mat, the pace slowed and Johnson was able to show much improved striking. Landing crisp combinations, solid knees in the clinch and landing some nice ground and pound before letting the fight get back to the feet.
From there, Johnson landed crisp combinations that dazed Faaloloto before dropping down with a quick two punches and following it up with several strikes that forced the stoppage at 4:42 in the first round.
Johnson picks up his first win under the UFC banner and his tenth overall.
