M-1 Challenge XXX: Zavurov vs. Enomoto II Results
The final M-1 Global event of 2011 in the US is in the books and the fans inside The Hanger at the O.C. fair and event center, along with those watching on Showtime saw an exciting night of fights. The main event of the night was a welterweight championship rematch between Shamil Zavurov and Yasubey Enomoto.
In the nights other rematch, Artiom Damkovsky avenged his lose to Jose Figueroa earlier in the year by knocking him out in the opening round. The night’s only knockout was a picture perfect right hand superman punch to the chin that turned the lights out on the former M-1 lightweight champion Figueroa’s night.
The great night of fights went like this…….
Main Card:
170 lbs. Title Bout: Yasubey Enomoto defeated Shamil Zavurov by 5th rd. Submission (Guillotine)
- Enomoto lands an overhand right puts the champion on his but in round one, though it might have been a slip. The champ comes back in round two with a late takedown and some ground and pound. Rounds three and four were back and forth, the champion would get his takedowns but the challenger limited the damage and also had his moments of success. Both fighters are tired heading into the final round, Enomoto didn’t allow the champion to get the takedown and as the round reaches the final minute the challenger grabs a guillotine that forces the champ to tap.
155 lbs.: Artiom Damkovsky defeated Jose Figueroa by 1st rd. KO
- These two came out quick and threw caution to the wind. As Figueroa throws a left, Damkovsky flies in with a superman punch that finds a home on the chin and ends the fight..
160 lbs.: Alexander Sarnavskiy defeated Sergio Cortez by 1st rd. Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
- It was all Sarnavskiy in this fight as he made it look easy. Cortez gets top position with a takedown but Sarnavskiy reverses and puts the pressure on Cortez. Sarnavskiy is relentless and when Cortez gives up his back the undefeated Sarnavskiy locks in the rear naked choke.
185 lbs.: Tyson Jeffries defeated Eddie Arizmendi by 2nd rd. Submission (Darce Choke)
- The difference in this fight was the wrestling of Jeffries. Arizmendi got taken down early in round one and spent the majority of the round there. When the referee stood them up he was getting the better of the standup over Jeffries. In the second round Arizmendi pulled guard looking for an ill-advised guillotine which opened the door for Jeffries and his submission.
145 lbs.: Bao Quach defeated Alvin Cacdac by 1st rd. Submission (Armbar/Triangle choke)
- These two came out throwing from the get go and only stopped when the fight went to the canvas. Cacdac dropped Quach with the straight right hand but when he went in for the kill things went south. Quach quickly recovered and wound up mounting Cacdac and moving to an armbar that would eventually turn into a triangle choke/amrbar submission.
Undercard Bout:
150 lbs.: Aaron Miller defeated Paul Webb by Unanimous Decision
