Chad Griggs to Make UFC Debut against Travis Browne

| December 27, 2011 | Reply

Another Strikeforce heavyweight is coming to the UFC! Coming off three win inside the Strikeforce cage, Chad Griggs is heading to the Octagon to face Travis Browne at UFC 145. UFC officials announced the bouts verbal agreements over the holiday weekend and the fight should be finalized shortly.

UFC 145 will take place on March 24th and is expected to take place from the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Griggs (11-1) burst onto the scene with his upset win over Bobby Lashley in his Strikeforce debut back in August of 2010. He went on to first round stoppages against Valentijn Overeem and Gian Villante in reserve bouts for the heavyweight grand prix.

The undefeated Browne (12-0-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Rob Broughton at UFC 135 and is 3-0-1 inside the Octagon. A draw win Cheick Kongo (Kongo was deducted a point) is the lone blemish on the record of the Hawaiian born fighter.

With Strikeforce disbanding their heavyweight division in 2012, Griggs will not be the last Strikeforce heavyweight to make to jump over to the UFC.
