Jason Miller takes on C.B. Dollaway at UFC 146

| February 20, 2012 | Reply

Following an over five-year absence from the UFC, Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller fell the unfortunate victim to the pre-UFC hype machine, and his own media success with the MMA based reality show for MTV Bully Beatdown, when he made his long-awaited return to the UFC. Not only did Miller draw a top Middleweight for his return bout, by being matched up against Michael Bisping, but he would also have to play opposing coach for the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, that aired last year on Spike TV.

It was a fabulous idea for hyping the upcoming fight between Bisping and Miller, by having them serve as coaches, but even after all of the pranks and the shenanigans that transpired during the season, when the fight actually went down, it was a one sided affair. Jason Miller showed tremendous heart and durability in his match with Bisping, but he also took a pretty savage beating for his reward. Mayhem’s record is solid, and he has faced some of the world’s best, and also has invaluable international experience, so it only seems logical that the UFC has decided to keep him around, so that he can once again attempt to prove that he belongs on the main stage in MMA.

Following his loss to Bisping, some fans were skeptical about what the future would hold for Miller in the grand scheme of the UFC, and it appears as that we got in our answer with the announcement that Mayhem will be facing C.B. Dollaway at UFC 146: Overeem vs. Dos Santos on May 26th. Dollaway is currently riding a 2 fight losing streak, and is looking to get back to top form, as well as on the lips of fans when they talk about the top guys at 185. The former TUF finale participant had previously been on a three fight win streak, so the potential for him to turn it around is more than there.

Miller and Dollaway both have a lot to prove in some fan’s eyes, and as they both come off defeats, it only stokes the flames inside the competitors, if they want to continue to battle in the top MMA organization in the world. If you are in the same weight class as the consensus top pound-for-pound best fighter, in one Anderson Silva, you need to make your voice heard loud and clear inside the octagon, and the UFC middleweight division.
