Overnight, UFC 148 is starting to take shape Nicely

On the heels on the UFC announcing a middleweight bout between Rich Franklin and Cung Le at UFC 148 the promotion has quickly added two more top matchups. Bantamweights Renan Barao and Jeff Hougland, along with middleweights Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch were added to a quickly forming July fight card.

Barao (28-1, 1NC) is a top five bantamweight who is currently on one of the greatest unbeaten streaks in MMA. Including three wins inside the Octagon, Barao has won a staggering 18 consecutive bouts and hasn’t tasted defeat since his pro debut in April on 2005. His opponent is also riding a lengthy nine fight winning streak but Hougland (10-4) hasn’t fought since his UFC debut last July. Having a combined 27 straight win, one of these fighters’ unbeaten streaks is going to come to an end at UFC 148.

Bisping (22-4) was on the cusp of a middleweight title shot before losing a close decision back in January to Chael Sonnen. The Ultimate Fighter winner as a light heavyweight, “The Count” is 8-3 as a middleweight and 12-4 overall in the UFC. Boetsch (15-4) is also a former light heavyweight and since dropping down in weight he’s reeled off three consecutive victories. His latest win was a come from behind 3rd round knockout of Yushin Okami at UFC 144, after easily losing the first two rounds.

UFC 148 will take place on July 7th from the MGM grand and will coincide with the UFC fan expo that will take place at the Mandalay Bay on the 6th and 7th. It’s been rumored that the TUF Live coaches, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber will headline the night’s card but that has yet to be confirmed.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
