Well Traveled Shane Nelson Signs with MFC
The well-traveled lightweight and former UFC fighter Shane Nelson has signed a multi-fight deal with the Maximum Fighting Championship. The Hawaiian will make his MFC debut while also making his featherweight debut against Canadian prospect Graham Spencer at MFC 35: Explosive Encounter.
Nelson (15-6) was a member of The Ultimate Fighter season 8, losing to the eventual winner Efrain Escudero in the first fight. He won his bout in the finale but went just 2-2 inside the Octagon before getting his release in 2009. Fighting for four different promotions since the release, Nelson has gone 3-1 with no fight making out of the second round. Spencer (8-1, 1 NC) will also be making his promotional debut and brings with him a four fight unbeaten streak.
“I’ve been wanting to come to the MFC for a while and now I’m very glad to get pen to paper and get the deal done. I intend on making a statement. I’m not taking Graham lightly but I’m not coming to lose,” said Nelson.
The only other bout currently official for the upcoming MFC 35: Explosive Encounter card is the night’s co-main event between Elvis “The King” Mutapcic and Joseph “Leonidas” Henle for the MFC world middleweight title.
Shane Nelson’s MFC debut will air on the MFC 35 main card on AXS TV on Friday, October 25th.
