We’re in the middle of a long schedule of UFC action, and the king of FOX fights, Benson Henderson, is once again on deck in Saturday’s UFC on Fox 7 main event. Having handily defeated Nate Diaz in his last outing, he’ll look to keep his belt away from the next contender from the Scrap Pack, as Gilbert Melendez makes his UFC debut. We also have another Lightweight fight for the ages, as Josh Thomson returns to the UFC to take on Nate Diaz.
If you’re looking for changes to the latest fighter rankings, take a peak at the welterweight rankings and then look no further. The slow month really kept things the same but the lone UFC event in March did reshuffle the ranks of the welterweight division.
This past month saw some exciting MMA action and some not so well, but as a whole the month of February produced several meaningful bouts to MMA Rankings. Champions Renan Barao and Eduardo Dantas made successful title defenses this month and Alexander Shlemenko was crowned the new Bellator middleweight champion.
Last month the MMA Rankings didn’t move much but the last couple weeks have influenced the ranks significantly. This month’s MMA rankings now include the top five-pound for pound fighters as well a slightly new look and feel.
Frankie Edgar (14-3-1) is a tough, determined fighter with a ton of heart. Edgar originally tried out for season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter, but was not selected into the house. However the exposure was enough to get him a fight with then undefeated Tyson Griffin at UFC 67. It’s during this fight that Edgar began to shine, receiving a unanimous decision victory over Griffin.
Anthony Pettis is looking to get a title shot by taking out Donald Cerrone at this Saturday’s UFC on Fox 6, but even with a win he might be waiting a long time.
Days after Strikeforce held its final event; the UFC announced that several of the promotions fighters have joined the ranks of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Not all of the fighters are coming over but this also wasn’t the complete and final list, expect a few more to be announced in the coming weeks.
Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez is finally getting his wish. Unable to defend his title at last weekend’s final Strikeforce event due to injury, Melendez instead will get an immediate title shot against UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson.

Last night the fighters for tonight’s Bellator 100 stepped onto the scales with all 24 fighters making weight. The historic 100th event for Bellator takes places tonight from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and features an all welterweight main card on Spike TV.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.
