Usually when you hear the phrase “it’s better to show up late, than not at all” it doesn’t pertain to a Mixed Martial Artist but in the case of British MMA competitor Terry Etim it couldn’t be more fitting. UFC 138 saw the franchise’s return to Birmingham, England on Saturday night and Etim put on a lightning fast display of both striking and grappling skill when he was able to submit Eddie Faaloloto in an astonishing seventeen seconds with a perfectly timed guillotine choke ruling out any questions of “ring rust” as Etim went to work on Faaloloto, and quick.

The UFC 138 undercard kicked off early on Facebook and then continued on with the main card, live in the UK and Canada. Those of us in the US will have to wait to watch in on Spike TV on the ever popular tape delay.

It’s fight week again which can only mean one thing, bold predictions time! UFC 138 is one of those cards that raise the eyebrows of fans for the wrong reasons. All but one of the 20 fighters on Saturdays UFC 138 card made weight today and surprise, surprise it was Thiago Alves who came in heavy. Now before you pop a gasket over Alves missing weight yet again, he was just a single one past the 171 lbs non-title welterweight limit. He was given one hour to get rid of that pesky pound and step back on the scale.

Michael Johnson stepped into the Octagon on Sunday and showed a much improved fighter from his time on The Ultimate Fighter, taking out Edward Faaloloto in their Facebook Preliminary fight.
