When Jacob Volkmann (12-2) left the Octagon following his split decision win over Antonio McKee at UFC 125, nobody could have expected what was about to happen. The Minnesota based fighter had just scored his second win with the UFC to improve his record to 2-2 with the promotion.
UFC veteran Brandon Vera was recently released from the organization after losing a unanimous decision to Thiago Silva at UFC 125.
Just days ago rumors began to circulated that Rashad Evans was set to fight Rampage Jackson, replacing Thiago Silva who was pulled from the bout for undisclosed reasons. But now it seems Matt “The Hammer” Hamill will be the one taking on the former light heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson at UFC 130.
This past Saturday at UFC 125, we were treated to a great night of fights. Those lucky enough to be at the MGM Grand Arena to watch it live, you were witness to awesome fights from the opening bout to the main event. Throughout the evening, there were good grappling matches, great striking matches, and unexpected outcomes, good and bad, but mostly good.
UFC 125 this past weekend was full of shocking results from start to finish. From Antonio McKee being out-wrestled and losing for the first time in nearly eight years, to the Lightweight Title fight ending in a Split Draw. Though many of the results throughout the night came as a shock to a lot of people, it was a great card, nonetheless.
UFC 125 was the first official post merger fight card to feature the lighter weight classes of the WEC. The nights undercard featured two featherweight match ups with high-profile former WEC fighters taking on lesser known opponents.
The New Year is here and the UFC has already closed the book on its first event of 2011. Live from the MGM grand in Las Vegas, UFC 125 was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
Thiago Silva returned to his winning ways Saturday evening by pounding out a unanimous decision victory over Brandon “The Truth” Vera at UFC 125.
