On August 13th, Houston “The Assassin” Alexander will meet Razak “The Razor” Al-Hassan in New Mexico as the main event for MMA Fight Pit: Genesis. This light heavyweight bout will be the feature of a nationally broadcast PPV. Both fighters have had recent success since their departure from the UFC and are looking to grab the attention of bigger organizations.
Jake “The Juggernaut” Ellenberger (24-5) needed less than three minutes to finish Canadian standout Sean Pierson (11-5) at UFC 129 last night. The two fought in front of 55,724 fans at the Rogers Centre in Toronto Canada. The pair started off the televised portion of UFC coverage on SPIKE TV just like the Facebook card before it, with a bang!

According to Joe Lauzon (19-6), he will be fighting on June 26th in Pittsburg. Lauzon stated via his website, joelauzon.com, that he received a call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva this past Saturday inquiring on his status. After a brief discussion, Silva informed the Massachusetts native that he would be squaring off against Curt Warburton (7-2) at UFC on Versus 4.
On April 30, 2011 Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko (25-5) and Jason “The Hitman” Brilz (18-3-1) will look to stay relevant in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. While a loss for either fighter does not guarantee them a pink slip, the possibility does exist. Both fighters are in the later stages of their career and a loss could be detrimental to fighting and remaining in the UFC.

Mike Brown (24-8) underwent surgery on his left hand to repair some ligament damage last week. According to a source, Brown suffered the injury to his hand in the first round of fight with Rani Yahya (16-6) on January 22nd at UFC-Fight For the Troops 2
The rubber match will have to wait. The rumored, almost finalized bout between Tim Kennedy (12-3) and Jason “Mayhem” Miller will not be held on March 5th at Strikeforce’s next event in Columbus.
