The undercard UFC on Versus 2

This is the inaugural article for a new feature called “the undercard”, where we’ll take the best undercard fight and spotlight it. Tomorrow is the UFC on versus 2 and the undercard is pretty solid but one that stood out was the Damarques Johnson vs. Matthew Riddle fight.

The Ultimate Fighter alums will face off in an evenly matched fight in the welterweight division. Both fighters are coming off wins earlier this year yet in very contrasting ways.

Breaking News Tapout partners with Dethrone

Have you noticed something different with the Burlingame, California base Apparel Company Dethrone Royalty? It’s been subtle and hard to notice but there has definitely been a noticeable change in Dethrone actions, sparking many rumors.

One rumor recently was of Tapout buying out Dethrone. Amidst these rumors and speculation of Dethrone actually being bought out by Tapout we reached out to both Dethrone and Tapout for answers.

A Lot on the Line for Griffin and Gomi at UFC on Versus 2

There is a lot on the line for both Tyson Griffin and Takonori Gomi at UFC Versus 2.  Both fighters are coming off losses and can’t afford a second straight defeat.

During his days in Pride, Gomi was widely regarded as the best 155 lbs fighter in the world, now however Gomi is just 2-3 in his last five fights and a loss to Griffin would put him at 0-2 in the UFC.  Gomi lost his UFC debut to Kenny Florian via rear naked choke at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs Gomi.  This is a must win for Gomi is he wants to not only stay relevant in the 155 lbs division but also to avoid possibly being cut by the UFC as well.

Five Minutes with Chris Camozzi

Chris Camozzi should be a household name by now, but a run of bad luck during the Ultimate Fighter Season kept him from receiving the attention that he deserves.  Camozzi, who defeated Victor O’Donnell via decision to get into the house, soon found out that he would not be a part of the show.

Camozzi suffered a fractured jaw during the fight and was not cleared by the medical staff to continue on the show.  This setback did not slow Camozzi down one bit.  After he was told that he was being replaced and he had to leave the house, Camozzi did not quit, he did not give up.  Camozzi went back home to Denver, CO, waited for his jaw to heal and he began training as hard as ever.

Why to watch UFC on Versus

In a stacked week for the UFC we get one great event free, that takes place this Sunday live on Versus. The UFC has another test for its young prospect and giving him the main card slot is the perfect stage for him to shine on. John “Bones” Jones (10-1 MMA) looks to take a step up the tall light heavyweight ladder facing a tough veteran in Vladimir Matyushenko (24-4 MMA). The Fight card is still stacked with well known names and is a great addition to a week packed with UFC fights when paired with UFC 117.
